For a long time, I struggled with balancing working in the business vs. working on the business.
What helped me break out of the hamster wheel?
Two simple words: System + Clarity.
Clarity: Where I’m Headed
▶️ Yearly & Quarterly Review: Align priorities for my life pillars work, personal, and family & friends. I love zooming out to see the bigger picture.
▶️ Weekly planning: Review and set weekly priorities.
▶️ Daily routine: Prep tomorrow’s to-do list the night before. (Trying hard but not always hitting it! 😅 )
System: How I Get Things Done
▶️ Clear the brain: Get ideas and tasks out of my head, following Getting Things Done principles (great book by David Allen). I regularly clean up my inbox and organize it into to-dos or future projects. Always feels liberating! 🤗
▶️ Say no: If it doesn’t move you closer to your goals, skip it.
▶️ If I want to change my behavior, I add a new routine. E.g. about four years ago, I didn't do a lot of sports. I added a new routine; now, for four years, I have been running (almost) every weekday.
▶️ Mornings: Block for focus - no meetings.
